Marymount Project

AAUW- PVP in partnership with Marymount California University has participated in a program since 2013 where four Marymount college women are selected to attend the AAUW National Conference for College Women Student Leaders (NCCCWSL) in Washington, DC.

This conference is held each year in May/June for three days.   Keynote speakers who are in prominent leadership positions present to the conferees and over 60 individual workshops are held to develop various leadership skills.  These workshops cover five pertinent categories:  Leadership Development, Professional Development, Identity and Diversity, Activism and Women’s Issues.  The purpose of the conference is to enhance these qualities, so the students become better leaders at the University and in their future careers.  The women chosen to attend are provided with paid conference registration fees, air travel and hotel accommodations.

In addition to the Conference, the AAUW/Marymount Project has an AAUW Campus Group that deals with women’s issues, provides pertinent speakers and workshops of interest to the MCU students.  We anticipate further involvement on campus through a variety of different campus activities.

AAUW members who are interested in having an opportunity to work with students on campus through our Marymount Project are encouraged to participate and new committee members are always welcome.

Because of the costs in sending students to the Conference, we look forward to donations.  If you would like to make a contribution to this worthy cause, make your check in any amount payable to AAUW-PVP.  Please designate it is for the AAUW/Marymount Project.  Checks should be sent to AAUW-PVP, P.O. Box 2443, Palos Verdes Peninsula, CA 90274.
