AAUW’s Mission
To advance gender equity for women and girls through research, education and advocacy.
AAUW’s Value Promise
By joining AAUW, you belong to a community that breaks through educational and economic barriers so that all women have a fair chance.
About AAUW Funds
These funds provide educational opportunities and equity for women and girls through fellowship and grant programs, including American Fellowships, Career Development Grants, Community Action grants, International Fellowships, International Project Grants, Research Publication Grants in Engineering, Medicine and Science and Selected Professions Fellowships.
Fellowships and Grants
One of the world’s largest sources of funding for graduate women, AAUW is providing funding for fellowships and grants to outstanding women and nonprofit organizations. Due to the longstanding, generous contributions of AAUW members, a broader community of women continues to gain access to educational and economic opportunities — breaking through barriers so that all women have a fair chance. https://www.aauw.org/resources/programs/fellowships-grants/
Fellowship and grant recipients perform research in a wide range of disciplines and work to improve their schools and communities. Their intellect, dedication, imagination, and effort promise to forge new paths in scholarship, improve the quality of life for all, and tackle the educational and social barriers facing women worldwide. AAUW seeks a diverse applicant pool.
Legal Advocacy Fund (LAF)
The AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund (LAF) works to combat sex discrimination in higher education and the workplace. It is managed by our national organization in Washington, D.C.
The LAF works through community and campus outreach programs, a resource library and online advocacy tools, and various research reports. In collaboration with the Public Policy and Government Relations department, the LAF seeks amicus curiae opportunities in cases on discrimination that disadvantages women in the workplace. The LAF is also supporting landmark sex discrimination cases that have the potential to make a difference for all women.
