The Palos Verdes Peninsula Branch is a non-profit organization and has been actively involved in our community since its founding in 1957. We started the first recycling center in our area and were centrally involved in the first program addressing domestic violence. We have a strong track record of working with schools, from elementary through college level. Recently, members have led the formation of the The Palos Verdes Peninsula Village, a grass roots organization that allows seniors to “age in Place” in their homes and communities.
In our activities, we advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. Often we join in our efforts with other organizations in our community who share our commitment. Projects include support for Rainbow Services, programs on human trafficking and policing issues, election activities and exploring women’s leadership.
All the while this is going on, we enjoy being together! We have a variety of opportunities for women to experience personal growth as they connect, converse, learn, and enjoy. Our members are enriched by participating in our many interest groups and outreach projects. Conversation groups and bingo or trivia nights offer opportunities for fun, fellowship and friendship. AAUW values and seeks a diverse and inclusive membership.
If you’re not already a member, we hope you’ll join us.
